2:45 pm - Best Christmas Song Ever

Christmas is tomorrow. Time to play Siouxsie's favorite Christmas tune. I love this song.

Things Fall Apart by Cristina.

Siouxsie talking about the song.

2:03 am - Don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

I was taking a break at work - which is located in a typical corporate office building. As I'm sitting around I hear something familiar on the piped musak. It took me a minute but I realized it was Oh Baby. I don't know if I should be pleased that "society" has progressed to the point where they like Banshee music enough to weave it into a musak cycle, or horrified that they've turned Banshee music into musak.

current mood: confused

According to thebansheesandothercreatures.co.uk, the SatB John Peel sessions will be released this year around the anniversary of Peel's death (presumably as one set). Other BBC sessions will be released separately next year.

3:36 pm - Monster House

So we took the kids to see Monster House on friday. It was pretty scare for a kids movie, but had a really odd but cute ending. I was very happily surprised to find out that Siouxsie and the Bansees' song Halloween is on the sound track.

6:11 pm - Holy shit, I found a pulse!

Siouxsie has signed a new deal with Universal and will release a new album on the brand new imprint, W14, next year. Siouxsie is now busy writing new material for the new record and will go into the studio later this year to begin recording. 'I am really excited about making new music, I have various collaborators in mind and am itching to get back in the studio'. Referring to an infamous spray-painting campaign to get the Banshees signed to a major label, Siouxsie added 'At least I didn't have to get someone spray-painting my name on the front of the Universal building!

The new venture sees her reunited with John Williams, who was the Polydor A&R man who worked with her on Siouxsie and the Banshees' 1988 'Peepshow' album and on The Creatures' 1989 album 'Boomerang'.

5:19 pm - Pluto Drive - For real...?!

Hello all.

Yes, I am guilty of lurking, but no more.

I've been a long-time fan of SATB (and The Creatures). The first SATB album I bought was "Tinderbox" back in 1988. During my Gothier period, Sioux was my idol (along with Theda Bara, the original Cleopatra).

I'm pretty much a die-hard fan, and love anything and everything by them, from their "poppier" stuff (including "Kiss Them For Me,") to the more experimental Creatures songs. I think my all-time favorite Creatures song is "Untied Undone," though "Pluto Drive" is a close second.

After coming across an article about oceans of methane on Titan (see http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20060728/sc_space/lakesfoundonsaturnsmoontitan;_ylt=AuvL4v9V8IqEE85TgR4EQQBeW7oF;_ylu=X3oDMTA0cDJlYmhvBHNlYwM- for full story), I started thinking about "Pluto Drive." I've found Sioux's music to be very prophetic (who needs Nostradamus when Sioux is around), and wondering if others on the list have found that to be true as well.

Anyhow, I'm glad to be on this list and look forward to posting more, and lurking less.

- Morghan

Anyone know where I might have luck purchasing a reasonably priced Siouxsie & the Banshees t-shirt, tank, or hoodie? Like, any online stores and such? So far- even on eBay- they're expensive and the prints aren't that great.

9:45 pm - July news

The Japanese editions of the remastered CDs were delayed but should now be available. If you'd like an ultra-rare collector's item, you can apparently get them in a Juju box if you buy all four from a Japanese shop called Disc Union...

Severin is now running an official SatB profile on MySpace:
(Along with his own page, and others for the Glove and Arban.)

"Spellbound" appears on the new compilation CD New Wave Heroes. It's getting some primetime TV promotion, including a clip of Siouxsie.

6:38 am - Introduction

I've been lurking around this community for a few days now. I found Siouxsie & the Banshees pretty late, with the Peepshow CD. That was when I was searching around for something different in music after exhausting myself on Rush and what they now call Classic Rock. Once I got hooked up with some college friends that were only to happy to put some tapes together for me, I zeroed in on the Banshees. Over the next year I picked up their entire collection. I don't have much in the way of cool Siouxsie collectibles, I only managed to see them live once and was too broke to get any stuff at the show, but I've managed to turn a few people onto their music in the past decade or so. And I'm enjoying the Creatures a lot these days too.

current mood: blah

8:50 pm - May news

The Nocturne DVD is now available in the US and still scheduled for 29th May in the UK. The Canadian CD The Best of Siouxsie and the Banshees - 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection is apparently now available.

Once Upon a Time has been reissued in the UK in a slimline case. It will also be one of the future remastered CDs, despite previous reports.

"Hong Kong Garden" (in both the original and an orchestral version) will be used in the new movie Marie-Antoinette and may be featured on a soundtrack album.
